Its a Subie, with a flat 6, that isn't an SVX. What? I noticed one yesterday, looked it up, and was amazed. What I don't know, though, is how rare they are. Anyone got some info on them?

Only came with the Auto 5 speed, my buddy has one that literally looks exactly like the one you posted except it's an 05.

Not sure how rare they are, I know they are more popular outside the US though.

Only in the auto? Man, if it was manual, the amount of hoonage possible could be multiplied by 3.

Every 6-cylinder Legacy is powered by a flat-6. The VDC was the "Vehcile Dynamic Control" variant and only had an automatic transmission.

...I didn't know there were 6 cylinder Legacies....or maybe I just never paid any attention.

I know the VTD that came with the VDC was introduced on the old Japanese-spec SVXes with rear-bias power delivery. VDC meanwhile, made the system a bit more bearable which sort of introduced us to the concept of Subaru's Symmetrical AWD - "torque vectoring" by brakes and sensors for endless amounts of traction.

Though ask BoxerFanatic - he might help, too.

I know it's kind of a bummer, apparently the STi transmission mates to it no problem though so I guess a swap isn't that difficult.

I found plenty of these a few months back when I was searching for Subies. Most people say V6 in the ad, probably just blissfully unaware of the misnomer. It seems liek they were more up-model, so there was usually at least some mention of "6 cylinder" in the ads.

I couldn't resist reading that title in his voice.

I'm not sure Subaru offered a Manual with any of their USDM H6 motors, SVX included.

When they were new you couldn't swing a dead cat in my neck of the woods without hitting a second generation Outback. Less common now, but I still see them.

I always liked these Outbacks the most of any Subaru. Best looking, best sized.

I know they sound proper AWESOME with a open exhaust on them, but there's virtually NO aftermarket support, so everything has to be custom built. Same goes for this chassis Legacy. Few companies make parts for them, and they're hella expensive. Bro.

There's a few Imprezas running around with this motor swapped, check the youtubes.

They are like a negatively charged 911 4s.

Same difference - Legacy/Outback. Subaru always used a flat-6 in them (along with a flat-4) as far as I know.
